Denver’s City Park Golf Course played host to the final round of the 2003 CGA State Junior Boys’ Stroke Play Championship, and for Shea Sena it was the perfect venue. Sena, the 2003 CHSAA 4A Boys’ Champion, captured his first CGA Championship carding a three-day total of 5-under par 208 (70,71,67). Sena of Conquistador Golf Course was quick to thank his family for all the support following the event, and said, “It feels great to win a State Championship with such a strong field and great support from my family and friends.”
Down the stretch, Sena had a one stroke lead with nine holes remaining over Jacob Lestishen of Lone Tree Golf Course. Sena then went on a four-hole birdie barrage carding birdies on the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th holes. Sena’s 4-under 33 on the back nine clinched the Championship. Lestishen finshed second at 212. Second round co-leader Jim Grady of Eagle Trace Golf Course carded a 74 to fall into a tie for fifth place at 214. Daniel Hahn of Englewood Golf Course and Shane Jonnsson of South Suburban Golf Course finished in a tie for third place at 213.
