The Hale Irwin Elite players wrapped up their season with a celebration at TopGolf in Centennial on Saturday. Eleven of the fourteen players were in attendance, as well as Director of Youth Programs for the CGA, Erin Gangloff and Elena King and Lauren Howe, two of the VISION54 coaches for the program. During their two hours, they played games and recapped their seasons successes and areas of improvement. Many of the current Hale Irwin Elite players plan on re-applying next year in what has been an incredibly successful program for the CGA.
The Hale Irwin Elite Player Program was created in 2012 to advance the next generation of elite young golfers. The program is designed to identify junior golfers in Colorado with determination, drive and passion for the game of golf and enhance their skills by granting them FREE access to CommonGround Golf Course and the practice facilities plus monthly meetings with VISION54 coaches.
Additionally, participants volunteer with the Community and Wellness Programs as well as be score keepers for the Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado (JGAC) 10 & under tournaments. Current program successes include 24 golfers selected from grades 5-12, 11 high school graduates, 8 Division I scholarship recipients or commitments, 5A and 4A Boys and Girls Individual Champions and Multiple State CGA, CWGA and JGAC Champions. Hale Irwin Elite Players are carefully selected based on golf skill and character as exhibited through community service, academic performance and general demeanor. Interested juniors need to submit a cover letter, resume, current grade report and any other supporting materials directly to Erin Gangloff by Friday November 4, 2016.
