Coloradan Michael Schoolcraft, who competed on the Mackenzie Tour/PGA Tour Canada last year, will return to that circuit in 2016 after earning conditional status at a Q-school event in Santee, Calif., that concluded on Friday.
The former University of Oklahoma golfer from Cherry Hills Country Club finished tied for 20th place out of a field of 132. The 17th through 40th finishers, plus ties, receive conditional status for 2016. Had Schoolcraft (pictured) placed in the second-through-16th range, he would have been exempt through the first four events.
Last year, Schoolcraft placed fifth in Q-school.
Meanwhile, Schoolcraft’s brother, Beau, and former University of Denver golfer James Love failed to earn status through the tournament in Santee.
The 2016 PGA Tour Canada schedule begins on May 26.
Here are the scores for all the players with strong Colorado ties:
20. Coloradan Michael Schoolcraft 73-72-72-75–292
49. Former DU golfer James Love 80-72-77-71–300
68. Coloradan Beau Schoolcraft 73-73-76-82–304
