Former Parker resident Elizabeth Wang struggled in Sunday’s final round, but still finished fourth among amateurs in the U.S. Women’s Open at Shoal Creek in Alabama.
Wang, an 18-year-old who moved from Colorado to California in 2010, ended up 34th overall out of the field of 156.
She shot a 5-over-par 77 on Sunday, posting one birdie, four bogeys and a double bogey. That left her with a 6-over-par 294 total and 17 strokes behind champion Ariya Jutanugarn.
Finishing ahead of Wang in the amateur standings were Patty Tavatanakit (286), Albane Valenzuela (291) and Kristen Gillman (293).
