Peaking at Right Time

Chris Korte, a University of Denver junior from Littleton, recorded his best individual finish of the college season by tying for sixth Sunday in the Pioneers’ regular-season finale.

Korte, the 2015 CGA Amateur champion, shot an even-par 72 in the final round of the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, giving him a 2-under-par 214 total. He finished seven strokes behind individual champion Nick Voke of Iowa State.

Korte made 11 birdies over the course of 54 holes.

As a team, Denver placed seventh out of the 14-school field.

Korte’s last top-10 individual showing was a runner-up at the Summit League Championship last May. Coincidentally, DU’s next tournament is the 2017 Summit League meet, set for April 30-May 2 in Newton, Kan.
