When it comes to the Women’s Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, Jennifer Kupcho of Westminster has been nothing if not consistent.
A year ago as a Wake Forest freshman, Kupcho finished second in her first ACC tournament, two strokes behind the champion.
Then on Saturday as a sophomore competing in her second ACC Championship, Kupcho placed second, two shots behind the winner.
This time around, the only golfer to finish ahead of the three-time CWGA Player of the Year was the No. 1-ranked women’s college golfer in the country, Leona Maguire of Duke.
Kupcho posted three sub-par rounds — 70-71-71 for a 4-under-par 212 total in Pawleys Island, S.C. She carded three birdies and two bogeys in the final round. Unusually, she didn’t capitalize in the par-5s, playing them in even par over three days.
So far this season, Kupcho has recorded six top-four finishes. She owns two individual wins and been second twice, third once, fourth once and eighth once. Kupcho, who finished sixth in the women’s NCAA Finals last year, is currently ranked sixth in the nation among female college players and seventh by Golfstat.
Next up for Kupcho is an NCAA Regional May 8-10.
