Jennifer Kupcho of Westminster, ranked No. 1 nationally in women’s college golf according to Golfstat’s head-to-head player standings, geared up for the spring portion of the schedule by finishing third out of 96 players last week in the prestigious Arizona Silver Belle Championship.
Also placing in the top 10 Friday at the event at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale were University of Colorado golfer Brittany Fan (fifth) and former Coloradan Elizabeth Wang (ninth).
Kupcho (pictured), the three-time CWGA Player of the Year who is in the midst of her sophomore season at Wake Forest, posted rounds of 73-72-69 for a 2-under-par 214 total, which left her four strokes behind champion Brigitte Dunne of Camarillo, Calif., who defeated Haley Moore of Escondido, Calif., in a playoff. Kupcho finished with 11 birdies over the three rounds.
Fan (70-72-74) checked in at 216 and Wang (72-72-73) at 217.
Kupcho (19-23) and Wang (15-16) won their respective age divisions in the Silver Belle.
