Doug Rohrbaugh came up short in his bid to reclaim playing privileges on the PGA Tour Champions circuit.
The Carbondale resident and director of golf at Ironbridge Golf Club needed to finish in the top 16 at a regional qualifying tournament in San Jacinto, Calif., to advance to the final stage of Q-school, but he finished 20th on Friday.
Rohrbaugh (left), winner of three straight Colorado PGA Professional Championships (2013-15), shot his second straight 74 at the regional tournament and ended up at 298 for 72 holes, four shots out of a playoff for the 16th spot. Rohrbaugh played part-time on the Champions tour in 2015.
The top 16 finishers after Friday’s fourth round advance to the final stage of Q-school, set for Nov. 29-Dec. 2 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Among those who earned a spot in the final stage was two-time CoBank Colorado Senior Open champion Greg Bruckner of Phoenix.
