All three Coloradans competing in a Web.com Q-school tournament in Lantana, Texas moved on in the three-stage qualifying process, bringing the total number of players with strong in-state ties who have advanced from stage 1 to stage 2 to 12.
Jim Knous (pictured) of Englewood and former Colorado Open champions Derek Tolan of Highlands Ranch and Zahkai Brown of Arvada finished in the top 24 players and ties on Saturday, giving them berths in stage 2.
Knous, a former Colorado School of Mines golfer, closed with an even-par 72 to post a 12-under-par 276 total, good for 10th place. Tolan, a former University of Colorado standout, place 18th at 278 after a 68 on Saturday. And Brown, a former Colorado State University golfer, also tied for 18th place at 278 after a final-round 69.
The local players advancing from tournaments on Friday were CU senior Jeremy Paul, ex-Buffs Justin Bardgett, David Oraee and Josh Creel, former CSU Ram Parker Edens, Nick Hodge of Littleton and Miller Capps of Denver.
Coloradans Gunner Wiebe and Nick Mason advanced to the second stage of Q-school at first-stage tournaments last week.
Five more first-stage tourneys will be held next week.
