Tiffany Maurycy of Denver, who finished 52nd in the stroke-play portion of the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur, couldn’t extend her run at the national championship at The Kahkwa Club in Erie, Pa.
Maurycy, who finished second in the Colorado-based qualifier for the national tournament, fell to 10th-seeded Katie Miller, who’s competing in her home state of Pennsylvania, 5 and 3 in Monday’s round-of-64 matches.
Maurycy won the first hole with a bogey and was all square after a birdie on No. 8, but couldn’t keep up with Miller from then on. The Pennsylvanian played the final seven holes of the match in 2 under par to advance to the round of 32.
