Bob Kalinowski, a former Durango resident who won two Big Eight individual titles for the University of Colorado in the 1990s, was one of 12 former Buff athletes who will be inducted into the CU Athletic Hall of Fame, the school announced on Monday.
The dozen honorees will be enshrined Nov. 17 and will be introduced during halftime of the Nov. 19 CU-Washington State football game at Folsom Field. With the incoming class, the CU Athletic Hall will have 91 members, in addition to the 1959 ski team which won the university’s first national title.
Kalinowski joined Hale Irwin as a two-time conference champion when he claimed the Big Eight titles in 1993 and ’94. He went on to be named a third- and second-team All-American, respectively, those seasons. Kalinowski also finished second in the 1994 NCAA Central Regional.
In addition, Kalinowski was named the CGA’s Les Fowler Player of the Year in 1993.
