Arnold and Kimbrel Win Back-To-Back Chapman Championship Titles

Stacey Arnold and D’Ann Kimbrel, both of Broken Tee Englewood, played two solid rounds of golf to win back-to-back titles in the Chapman Championship. The duo shot a two-day team score of 151 to beat Kim Nissen and Kim Gosche, both of CommonGround GC, by seven strokes.

Arnold and Kimbrel together shot a first round 75, including an eagle on hole 16, which allowed them to carry into the second round a two-stroke lead over Nissen and Gosche and a three-stroke cushion over Claudia Ruoff and Cheryl Jensen, both of Vail GC. Despite the strong winds, Arnold and Kimbrel came out focused in round two by making birdie on holes 2 and 3, contributing to their par-shooting performance on the front nine. Arnold and Kimbrel struggled a bit early in the back nine, but sunk birdie putts on holes 15 and 16 to seal the deal. They finished the day with a team score of 76 allowing them to win easily. Meanwhile, Nissen and Gosche bogeyed nine holes with only one birdie during their final round to finish with an 81 and a two-day total team score of 158.

Having won the Brassie Championship earlier this year, this was the second 2009 CWGA team championship title for Arnold and Kimbrel. They have now won their fourth overall team title as the pair won both the CWGA Chapman and the CWGA Mashie Championships in 2008.
