Stacey Arnold andD’ Ann Kimbrel, both of Willis Case GC, defeated Kim Eaton of Broken Tee Englewood and Cindy Pallatino of Colorado AvidGolfer Passport 3 and 2 in the final match to claim the 2008 CWGA Mashie Championship title. Hosted by Heritage Eagle Bend G and CC, Eaton and Pallatino won the first hole but remained one down or all square for the remainder of the match. The momentum of the match shifted in favor of Arnold and Kimbrel on the par 3 15th green when Kimbrel struck an iron shot that landed inches from the hole. Eaton and Pallatino conceded the putt for a birdie, and the Arnold/Kimbrel side was dormie. Arnold and Kimbrel parred the 16th hole to walk away as the champions.
Eaton and Pallatino were the number one seed team going into the event. The two defeated the mother-daughter duo of Janet and Sarah Moore, both of Cherry Hills CC, 2 and 1 during the quarterfinal round. Arnold and Kimbrel faced opponents Charlotte Jorgensen from Highland Meadows GC and Lynn Larson from The Pinery CC in the quarterfinals. Arnold and Kimbrel were 2 up after nine holes and extended their lead to win the match 4 and 3. During the semifinal matches, Eaton and Pallatino competed against opponents Laurie Steenrod and Lisa Stone, both of Saddle Rock GC, and won the match 1 up. Arnold and Kimbrel defeated Susan Jennings and Molly Stephens, both from Fox Hill Country Club, 2 and 1 to reserve their spot in the championship match against Eaton and Pallatino.
