Ronald Knapp of the Pinery CC carded a 79 in the final round for a three day total of 219 to hold on for a three-stroke victory in the 2004 CGA Senior Stroke Play Championship. The event was hosted by the prestigious Nicklaus-designed Roaring Fork Club, which Knapp showed early mastery of with opening rounds of 71 and 69 the first two days. Knapp’s 79 proved to be enough to complete a wire-to-wire victory -his first CGA individual title. Larry Netherton of Highlands Ranch Golf Club carded the only sub-par round of the final day with a 71 to move into second place with a total of 222 for the three days. Five-time champion John Olive of the Broadmoor Golf Club rounded out the top three with a total of 224. The event started with a field of 84 players and was cut to the low 41 for Fridays final round.
In the Super Senior Division (over 60), Mark Barlau of Glenwood Springs GC took the title at 234 over Bob Heiny of Highland Hills GC with a birdie on the first playoff hole. Barlau and Heiny were the only two Super Seniors to make the cut.
