On a day at Arrowhead Golf Club that saw winds gust in excess of 60 miles per hour throughout the morning, John Olive of the Broadmoor Golf Club breezed through the field to win his third consecutive CGA Senior Stroke Play Championship. His final round score of 75 put him at 222 for the tournament, four strokes ahead of John Callahan of Foothills Golf Course, who fired the day’s low round of 72 to climb into second place and earn Silver Medal honors. Third, fourth, and fifth places (as determined by playoff) were: Jerry Kidney of Overland Park Golf Course, Doug Jones of Tiara Rado Golf Course, and Patrick Almdale of the Courses at Hyland Hills, as each finished at 229. Also determined by playoff, sixth place was earned by Gene Schroth of Breckenridge Golf Club, seventh place was earned by 1999 CGA Senior Match Play Champion Richard Oh of Meridian Golf Club, and Jim Hotchkiss of Bear Creek Golf Club took eighth.
Phill Word of Pinehurst Country Club fired a 78 in the final round to finish at 226 and win the Super Senior Division. Don Baughman of Lincoln Park Golf Course came in at 231 to take second place, four strokes ahead of the third place finisher, CGA Executive Director Warren Simmons of the Country Club at Castle Pines.
